Botanical Medicine & Me.

botanical medicine…

Botanical or Herbal Medicine, also called phytomedicine, is the world’s oldest traditional medicinal practice. It uses plants to support the body’s ability to heal, and prevent or improve the body from unwell condition, or disease. Herbal Medicine focuses on finding root causes of the symptoms or illness.

During a consultation with a Medical Herbalist, the focus is on discussing the patient’s overall health to find areas of concern. This may include a physical exam if needed to diagnose and understand complex health issues.

The herbal prescription is formed with a combination of herbs, that support the functioning and nourishment of the body. This allows the body to heal itself.

In this way, plant medicines are successfully used to treat thousands of people throughout the world for a wide range of problems including skin conditions, migraine, hormone or digestive disturbance, pain, musculoskeletal problems, anxiety, and my personal specialist interest.., insomnia & the sleep-related conditions.

“We embrace the medicines of our natural world, and support meaningful healing with lasting impact through everything we do. Our mission is our commitment to sustainable practice, to our environment and to its customers.

Healing people, plants and planets.“

& me..

After studying Western Herbal Medicine at University of Westminster, London, I have been able to integrate my great love and respect for traditional and natural medicines, plants and therapeutics, with my great interest in the functions of the human body.

I’ve long been interested in cultures and traditions within systems of medicine. Often, my focus is on how we have incorporated nature with other ways of living. I consider a wide range of beliefs, concepts, and energetic principles not only as a natural precursor for healing disease and as preventative medicine, but also for our continued and collective research on their effects on the human body.

This is my approach as a Medical Herbalist, considering the overall health constitution of the person, rather than symptomatically.

& the apothēcary..

Prescriptions are based on medicines made from high quality plant materials, many sourced myself from the local area, and always conscious of sustainability.

Methods of diagnosis are based on traditional western practice consultations, but may also include both western and Traditional Chinese Medicine tongue or pulse diagnosis, and Iridology. These may help to identify energy and constitution patterns, or areas of health that may be weakened through factors such as genetics, lifestyle or disease and providing a further support for work with herbs., to restore vitality, health and wellbeing.

With very best wishes…
